Strassen – Steinsel (22 km hike)

Under the epigraph “suburban forests”, last winter we explored the Grünewald quite extensively. We literally walked all the way from home, from door to door, a couple of times following different trails.

One could think that, as suburban forest go, the natural alternative would be Bambësch. However, we are going to explore a bit beyond that this time.

We will start from the parking at Fräiheetsbam (freedom tree), at a walking distance from Strassen/Mamer/Bridel, and will head north-east towards the cave Huel Kimmerchen. Also in the vicinity of Steinsel, we will also pay a visit to the Roman Temple to then turn west towards the river Mamer which we will follow all the way south, then east, until we reach the starting point.

As last week, some legs are not really frequented by hikers which means we can find ourselves in a variety of situations. That said, this one is pretty flat.
